Q. What is the best age group with which to use the resource kit?
If you work with young people then you will appreciate that every individual has their own learning style, learning needs and concentration levels. We have used this resource kit with ages ranging from 8 – 14, a pretty diverse group I’m sure you’ll agree. Our suggested core age range is 9 – 11, but is every 8 year old a year behind in learning techniques and confidence than every 9 year old? Of course not! Trust your own instincts. As you become more confident with the resource and come to know the young people that you are working with, you will be able to decide who to use the resource with more easily. What we can tell you is that, regardless of the age level using it, we have never had a young person that did not relate to the resource.Q. What is the point of having A3 sized resources as well as individual Children’s workbooks?
The resource has been developed this way in order to provide flexibility in how you deliver the resource. We want to provide you, the practitioner, with choices in how you engage the individual child or group of children that you are working with.The merits of using the individual workbook: Ideal for one to one work and group work. How many times have you as an adult been given a page of information that you put down and never saw again? If we are working to inform young people about bullying and encouraging them to be reflective, then it makes sense that they should be able to keep and take away something that holds that guidance and their learning, thoughts and feelings. We encourage the use of the customisable cover so that the book becomes unique to the young person using it right from the beginning.
The merits of using the A3 Resources: This really brings a group together. To sit in a circle with the resource at the centre, bold, colourful and clear for everyone, really does support the discussion of ideas. The group can also use their individual workbooks to record their ideas and feelings in conjunction with the A3 resource.
Q. How does the training academy work?
Have you ever come across a resource that has just sat on the shelf forever covered in dust? In reality you don’t even notice it anymore and you’ve walked past it a thousand times. That is why we offer 12 months ongoing support and access to the training academy.
We provide a diverse range of specialist speakers (never generic trainers) who will deliver sessions across the UK and you can attend whatever sessions and speakers you feel best fit your needs. You receive 8 passes for these sessions over a 12 month period. If you’d like, you can also top up at a discounted rate.
If your team has different specialties, or if some individuals are interested in specific topics, then you can tailor this team’s programme to suit the whole of your needs.
